Upholstered chair

We purchased this chair, along with a matching one, a few months ago at a thrift shop. They were each under five dollars and were in remarkably good shape - the caning was intact and the wood only needed a good cleaning - no painting or stripping. My husband took the seat off and then I upholstered it with fabric (on sale) from JoAnn Fabrics. I also made a pillow to match and added a coordinating strip of fabric. It was quick and fairly easy. The hardest part was choosing the fabrics. We found out, however, that if you're going to offer them for sale, to stick with neutral fabrics that will appeal to the masses. These colors definitely do not match most decor.

  2. It looks great! You are so right about using neutral fabric. I have an antiques booth and I get so bored with painting everything white, but that is what I have to do to appeal to the masses.
